The Software Systems Engineer supports averydynamic and innovative space program with the design, development, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of software systems for advanced space vehicle programs.
LV8D Solutions is seeking a Software Systems Engineer toserve as a keytechnicalcontributor across the system lifecycle, ensuring software solutions meet mission requirements, interface seamlessly with flight andground systems, andcomply with programmatic, security, safety, and quality standards. This role collaborates withsoftwaredevelopers, systems engineers, mission operations personnel, cybersecurity specialists, and program leadership to deliver reliable, mission-critical capabilities that support spacecraft operations and mission success.

Key Responsibilities- Analyzes stakeholder, mission,andsystem requirements and translate themintosoftware and interface requirements.
- Develops and maintains software architecture products, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and system engineering artifacts.
- Supports software requirements decomposition,allocation,verification,andvalidationactivitiesthroughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborateswithflightsoftware,ground software, cybersecurity,andhardwareengineeringteamstoensureend-to-endsystemintegration.
- Participates in system design reviews, software technical reviews, and program milestone events including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Operational Readiness Review (ORR).
- Developsandmaintainrequirementstraceabilitybetweenmissionobjectives,system requirements,software specifications,and verification activities.
- Supports software integration, test planning, execution, anomaly resolution, and operational readiness activities.
- Performs system modeling, performance analysis, andtrade studies to evaluate technical solutions and support engineering decisions.
- Coordinatessoftwareconfigurationmanagement,change control, andreleaseactivities.
- Assistsinriskidentification,mitigation planning,andtechnicalissueresolution.
- Support mission operations, anomaly investigations,software upgrades, andpost-launch sustainment activities as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace, cybersecurity,quality assurance, and mission assurance standards.
- Bachelor'sdegreein
Systems
Engineering,Software Engineering,Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline. - 9+yearsofexperiencesupportingsoftwareengineering,systems engineering, or software integration activities.
- Experiencewiththesystemsengineeringlifecycle,includingrequirementsdevelopment,design,integration,test,verification,and validation.
- Knowledgeofsoftware development methodologies including
Agile,Dev Sec Ops , and traditional waterfall approaches. - Experience supportingcomplexintegrated systemsinaerospace, defense,intelligence, or space environments.
- Strongwrittenandverbalcommunicationskillswiththeabilitytopresenttechnicalinformation todiverse audiences.
- Abilitytoworkeffectivelyinamultidisciplinaryengineeringenvironment.
- Experiencesupportingspacecraft,satellite,launch vehicle,orgroundcontrolsystems.
- Knowledgeofflightsoftwarearchitecturesandcommand-and-control systems.
- Experience with Model-based
Systems Engineering(MBSE) andSysML. - Familiaritywithspacecommunicationprotocols,Telemetry,Tracking,and Command (TT&C) systems.
- Experiencewithsoftwareintegrationlaboratories,hardware-in-the-loop testing, and mission simulations.
- Understandingofcybersecurityrequirementsforspacesystems.
- Familiarity with digital engineering principles and modern software factory environments.
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
- Active Counterintelligence (CI) or Full Scope (FS) Polygraph
- On-site work in a government or contractor facility
- Occasional travel (up to 10%)
