Job Description & How to Apply Below
Job Description Position Summary Applications Developers build and maintain the DPL's application components and back-end services, turning Product Roadmap features into working software each sprint to keep MVP delivery on pace within the one-year base period. They implement the services behind rendering, search, entitlement enforcement, auditing and integration, all built against the standardized RIS GEOINT Product JSON contract.
Key Responsibilities
* RIS integration services:
Build microservices that consume RIS GEOINT Product JSON through the Orc Srvcs API, validate payloads against the published schema, and use version-aware adapters and automated contract tests so schema changes across UC, SC and TC are caught in the pipeline.
- Rendering service:
Build the service that generates current-template HTML at the time of access for each of the eleven approved product types, including template selection, embedded imagery (PNG/JPEG) and NGA Style Guide formatting. - Search services:
Build APIs for spatial search (AOI, bounding box, geohash), temporal search (date-time range, recency) and metadata/text search. Integrate the Government-supplied LLM for natural-language query expansion and terminology resolution, making sure the LLM never performs retrieval. - Entitlements and audit:
Integrate with GEOAxIS. Apply MLS, JEMS, role and attribute entitlements before any results or metadata are returned, and record every access decision and every search, view and feedback action in the audit log. - Enterprise integration:
Expose RIS-derived content through the Orc Srvcs API to NGA Globe and other authorized consumers. Support integration with Atlas/Phoebe, GIMS, Orchestration and APS through the RIS data contract, and keep API documentation generated from code in OpenAPI format. - Performance and scalability:
Build stateless, horizontally scalable containerized services on Open Shift with appropriate caching. Support load testing toward the sub-2-second response and 99.9% availability targets. - Quality:
Write unit and integration tests that contribute to at least 90% meaningful coverage. Take part in peer code review, fix static analysis (SAST) findings, follow established design specifications and coding standards, and use only SWAP-approved components. - Documentation and support:
Maintain software technical documentation and contribute to the SDD (A001), Installation and Configuration Artifacts (A002) and Software Sustainability Package (A004). Help prepare user and administrator documentation, support TAC IV&V defect work-off, and evaluate and integrate GOTS/COTS/FOSS components.
