Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Office and Budget Manager for the Department of Communication Studies and the Writing, Rhet, Digital Studies Program. The Business Services Coordinator ( BSC ) will report directly to the Department and Program Chairs and is responsible for managing the budgets for both units, including making recommendations regarding the use and distribution of funds, processing university-related documents and forms, assisting with hiring processes, maintaining records and personnel files, and ensuring the department runs smoothly.
The BSC also handles communication with students and faculty, resolves administrative issues, and ensures compliance with university policies. This role requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of relevant policies and procedures, and the ability to manage sensitive information while maintaining effective communication within the department.
The person hired should have in-depth knowledge of policies and procedures for the day-to-day financial management of various funding sources, including State, Summer School, Discretionary, E&T, Overhead, Grants, and Endowments, etc.
The person in this role will also supervise two SHRA staff members and work-study student employees.
Required
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
