Position Summary
The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is seeking a qualified Pediatric Surgeon to join the Division of Pediatric Surgery. The division is one of nine clinical divisions, comprising four faculty members who deliver high‑quality care to injured and critically ill pediatric patients. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellence across the three traditional academic missions—clinical practice, education, and research—through experience, outcomes, and professional references.
Candidates must work cooperatively, collegially, and promote teamwork and learning within the diverse environment of the school. The role will involve a broad array of clinical services, mentorship of medical students and residents, outreach to rural referring hospitals, and engagement in research initiatives spanning clinical outcomes, health services, basic and translational science, ethics, education, or global surgery. The appointment is open‑rank with an FTE between 0.5 and 1.0, and may be offered as a fixed‑term, tenure‑track, or tenure‑eligible position.
Prospective candidates must be board‑certified or board‑eligible in general surgery with pediatric certification, hold or be eligible for a current North Carolina medical license, and exhibit a collaborative, inclusive approach to teamwork and learning.
