The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) invites applications for a fellowship‑trained Cerebrovascular Neurosurgeon to join our growing multidisciplinary program. The successful candidate will join a dynamic academic environment comprising 12 neurosurgeons with expertise across subspecialties, supported by robust clinical, research, and educational infrastructure within the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health. The ideal candidate will join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary cerebrovascular team and contribute significantly to the continued development of UNC’s endovascular program and comprehensive stroke center.
This role is predominantly endovascular, with most of the clinical practice focused on vascular pathologies but also including the emerging applications and therapies in functional, oncology, CSF physiology and beyond. The candidate will also participate in open cerebrovascular practice.
Our neurosurgery services include treatment for aneurysms and cerebrovascular disease, brain tumor treatment, epilepsy and functional neurosurgery, spine and head trauma, hydrocephalus, pituitary and skull base surgery, spinal neurosurgery, pediatric and fetal neurosurgery.
The department has expanded in recent years with new neurosurgical faculty, including surgeon‑scientists, master clinicians, and an extraordinarily talented multimedia medical illustration team. A new neurosurgical outpatient center at the ACC has been opened, and UNC Health has acquired the latest technology, including the LITT, Robot, and high/low‑intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU/LIFU). The department has established a new peripheral nerve and spinal oncology program, generated $2.52M in grant funding, and received $2.95M in philanthropic support.
In the last few years, the department has improved its standing in Blue Ridge and US News & World Report rankings.

- Participate in the open vascular practice (carotids, aneurysms, AVMs, ICHs) as required.
- Manage and grow emerging applications of endovascular neurosurgery and participate in clinical trials.
- Participate in general and neurovascular call duties.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative neurosurgical care within UNC Hospitals.
- MD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Board‑certified or board‑eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
- Ability to work effectively with neurosurgical, critical care, and other clinician partners is paramount.
- Position requires that the candidate have, or be able to obtain, a medical license in the state of North Carolina and be credentialed to practice medicine at UNC Health Care System.
Evidence of a strong clinical track record and commitment to academic productivity.
