Position SummaryAt CHCCS, a teacher’s goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience he needs to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever‑changing world.
EssentialDuties
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to student needs.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in curriculum development programs and faculty committees, sponsorship of student activities.
- Instruct pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Holds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Alternative qualifications as approved by the board.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
