At CHCCS, a teacher’s goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience he needs to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever‑changing world.

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to student needs.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities.
• Participate in curriculum development programs and faculty committees, sponsorship of student activities.
• Instruct pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

• Holds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Alternative qualifications as approved by the board.

• Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
