At CHCCS, a teacher’s goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience he needs to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world.
EssentialDuties
- Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction, adapting the curriculum to each student’s needs.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with professional staff to help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in curriculum development programs, faculty committees, and sponsorship of student activities.
- Instruct pupils in accordance with the Board of Education’s adopted course of study and other appropriate learning activities.
- Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to best utilize instructional time.
- Evaluate pupil performance and growth using formative and summative evaluation tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license; N.C. ESL (K‑12) teacher certification is required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered at the board’s discretion.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
