Behavioral Health Support Coach (College Students Encouraged to Apply)

Location: North Carolina (In-Person & Virtual Options Available)

Pay: $16–$19 per hour

Schedule: Part-Time | Flexible Hours Around Class Schedules

Beacon Bridge is a North Carolina–based behavioral health and substance use disorder agency providing trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services across the state. We partner with community programs, treatment facilities, and managed care organizations to support individuals and families on their path to stability and wellness.

Beacon Bridge is seeking motivated college students who are passionate about mental health, substance use recovery, social work, psychology, human services, or related fields to join our team as Peer Support Specialists (or Peer Support Specialist Trainees
, where applicable). This role is ideal for students pursuing careers in behavioral health who want hands‑on, paid patient care experience hours while making a meaningful impact in their community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support services to adults and/or adolescents under supervision
  • Offer encouragement, emotional support, and recovery-oriented guidance
  • Assist individuals in building coping skills, self-advocacy, and community connections
  • Document services accurately and timely in the EHR system
  • Collaborate with clinicians, care coordinators, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in college or university (preferred majors include psychology, social work, human services, criminal justice, nursing, public health, or related fields)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, professional, and compassionate
  • Ability to pass background checks required by NC and payors
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery is strongly preferred (as required for peer support roles)
Certification Information
  • NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) preferred but not required at hire
  • Candidates without certification may be hired as Peer Support Specialist Trainees
    , with support toward certification where applicable
