Job Overview

This position serves as a subject matter expert representing the UNC Clinical Trials Office in facilitating the conduct of oncology clinical trials and ensuring associated financial compliance. The role provides oversight, creation, and maintenance of oncology treatment plans in Epic; ensures adherence to best practices in research billing review standards; and, as a subject‑matter expert, trains new and existing staff on compliant processes as they pertain to mitigating patient financial toxicity.

Serving as a key liaison to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the UNC Office of Clinical Trials, and the North Carolina Cancer Hospital, this position ensures research charges are accurately managed for clinical oncology study compliance and adheres to precise fiscal coordination safeguarding institutional integrity and mitigating financial and operational liability.

Responsibilities

These responsibilities relate to the mission of the UNC / LCCC Protocol Office by maintaining the quality of research and addressing patient safety, regulatory compliance, and financial compliance that impact research quality and safeguard institutional integrity.

Education and Experience

Experience in oncology research.

Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of ICH GCP, Federal Regulations and Guidelines and ability to follow established regulations, procedures, and protocols; strong computer skills; ability to gather data and document procedures; ability to plan work and coordinate multiple projects; adequate social acumen and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing.
  • Previous experience with therapeutic clinical research involving drugs and/or devices.
  • Experience navigating medical records and data extraction.
  • Experience in Phase I, II, and III clinical research.
  • Knowledge of research billing finance and compliance.
