Location:

• 410 Market St, Chapel Hill, NC 27516
• Monday‑Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
• No holidays, no weekends

Incentive: $7,500 commitment incentive paid over 3 years.

Summary: The Medical Assistant I, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in an outpatient clinic setting. The role works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the manager/supervisor for non‑clinical responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Performs rooming/intake process, collecting vital signs, height, weight, and data related to patient’s reason for visit.
• Collects patient and family medical and social history.
• Reviews current medication list, allergies, preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider with treatments, examinations, procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests such as EKG, eye exams under provider direction.
• Determines if patient requires routine health screenings.
• Ensures exam/procedure rooms contain supplies, equipment, forms, education materials.
• Provides after‑visit instructions and educational materials.
• Prepares, cleans, stocks, and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists with registration, check‑in/out, appointment scheduling.
• Answers clinic telephone and assists in‑basket under provider or nurse direction.
• Assists in emergency situations as directed.

Education Requirements:

• No formal education required if other qualifications are met.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program is strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• Medical Assistant certification (AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA).
• Basic Life Support Certification (AHA or ARC) required.

Professional

Experience:

• Prior medical assistant or externship experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Perform essential functions as outlined.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills. wh
• Positive engagement with patients, families, staff, and providers.
• Computer skills to document information in electronic medical records.
