Position Summary

This position serves as a professional‑level Human Resources (HR) Consultant for the Department of Medicine. This position has overarching responsibilities for Health Care System employees funded by the department. The position incumbent possesses expertise in managing human resources activities across employee types including SPA permanent employees, UNC Health Care employees, temporary employees, and non‑salaried faculty employees. This includes providing in‑depth interpretation of University HR policies, being knowledgeable of any tie‑ins with UNG Health Care System activities, providing consultation and advice on general HR issues and concerns, and implementing and advising on unit‑level, School of Medicine, and campus‑wide HR strategies and plans within the department.

The HR Consultant will serve as the principal contact for managing the HR activities. Activities involve communications with key University central offices including the Office of Human Resources (OHR), the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office, University Payroll Services, and the HCS HR Office. The position incumbent will essentially function as an HR expert on human resources subject matter areas including classification and compensation, recruitment and hiring, employee relations, leave administration, and handling very basic benefits inquiries in consultation as appropriate with the University’s Benefits Department.
