Experienced RN needed in our oncology clinic that is committed to providing quality care to the cancer patient population. The RN will practice in a multi‑clinic setting offering a variety of treatment and research modalities for cancer and hematology patients. The clinics are fast‑paced with exciting opportunities for professional growth and development.
Patient education will be a strong component of the position. Seeking applicants that are detail‑oriented with strong communication skills among the multidisciplinary team, and proactive work ethic. Peripheral IV and port accessing skills preferred.
Job responsibilities include providing patients with a clinical care portal through telephone triage in order to assist with assessing and addressing requests and concerns, determining the most appropriate level of care and response needed. The RN provides and facilitates coordinated patient care with other care team members in compliance with professional practice and practice standards. Responsible intake of information, assessment, planning, coordination and implementation of standardized protocols relating to patient symptoms and dispensation of medical advice.
This role demonstrates and models a full range of nursing professional practice in both care provided and participation in the development of strategies to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction with services, and cost‑effectiveness. Serves as a liaison throughout the healthcare system and community along the cancer care continuum. This patient‑centered position delivers services focused on promptly meeting concerning and potentially distressing needs focused on improving access to care and symptom management.

Summary:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Education – Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
Evaluation of Care – Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
Implementation – Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population‑appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects of care. Performs bedside point‑of‑care testing as required for patient care plan. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures in delivery of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or high risk for discharge planning.
Leadership – With assistance, develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations. Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frame or renegotiates with supervisor. Is knowledgeable about activities which facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
