Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg
We are seeking a dedicated and competent Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. This role involves coordinating and delivering patient care while utilizing the nursing process.
Essential Duties- Education:
- Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
- Attend education programs based on identified needs.
- Utilize patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Assess the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
- Evaluate the developmental level of patients and factors that affect their ability to learn.
- Evaluation of Care:
- Identify expected patient outcomes.
- Seek guidance as needed to revise plans of care.
- Participate in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care evaluation.
- Communicate relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
- Implementation:
- Demonstrate competence in managing patients with complex issues, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as needed.
- Adhere to organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
- Consult with appropriate resources regarding complex care issues and discharge planning.
- Leadership:
- Develop professional growth goals with assistance.
- Achieve objectives within specified time frames or renegotiate as necessary.
- Facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Engage in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Utilize communication systems effectively.
- Contribute to promoting cost-effective care.
- Provide feedback to colleagues.
- Patient Assessment:
- Recognize data from complex situations to prioritize care.
- Incorporate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs in assessments.
- Synthesize assessment data for clear communication with the care team.
- Anticipate discharge needs for patients and families.
- Build relationships with families to empower them in advocating for patients' needs.
- Planning:
- Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
- Utilize multidisciplinary resources in planning care.
- Enhance communication efforts in care planning.
- Address cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex needs.
- Research:
- Read professional journals and studies relevant to practice.
- Engage staff in discussions regarding applicable ideas and questions.
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
- Required:
- Nursing Diploma or
- ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Preferred:
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Required:
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).
