The electronics research associate will verify the design of custom analog and digital electronics for research in experimental neuroscience. Initial work focuses on testing a sparse array of photometers under low light conditions. Duties include design, prototyping, fabrication, and debugging of specialized analog and digital circuits, coding, data acquisition card debugging, and developing and testing data logging and wireless streaming systems.
Experiments will be conducted at UNC laboratories.
Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree required (or foreign equivalent). For candidates with comparable independent research productivity, a relevant bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) plus at least 3 years of relevant experience may be accepted. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications , Competencies, and Experience- Strong organizational skills and technical proficiency in surface‑mount electronics.
- Experience designing analog and digital electronics for research, including mixed‑signal, RF, digitizers, optoelectronics, and low‑noise circuits.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows on custom electronics.
- Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering or related field with experience in electronics and laboratory environment.
- All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
