About the Institute for Trauma Recovery (ITR):
ITR at UNC Chapel Hill conducts cutting‑edge research to help trauma survivors. The $35 million AURORA study, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and private partners, enrolls individuals presenting to emergency departments immediately after trauma and follows them for one year using sophisticated adaptive sampling methods and a state‑of‑the‑art battery of self‑report, neurocognitive, physiologic, digital phenotype, psychosocial, neuroimaging, and genomic markers.

Primary

Purpose:

Provide cover letter and resume. The statistician works in a collaborative research team to perform statistical analyses of longitudinal data and clinical trial data, contributing to new discoveries that benefit trauma survivors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data analysis – develop scripts/code to streamline and optimize analyses
  • Communication – write and edit analytics methods for peer‑reviewed publications; summarize analysis results for stakeholders and meetings
  • Data collection – assist with analyses of diverse longitudinal data from the AURORA study and other R01 studies within the institute
  • Administration – maintain metadata regarding databases and work performed
  • Other – develop analysis plans in collaboration with research team members
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum a relevant Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent);
    PhD preferred
  • Experience with Mplus or R software packages; structural equation modeling experience preferred
  • Prior experience in clinical or epidemiological research
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
  • Expert knowledge of R and other statistical software packages
  • Proficiency as a scientific writer
  • Ability to perform advanced statistical analyses and learn new techniques
