The Role
As a CMM Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring components meet exacting customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. Working closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams, you will be responsible for inspecting and verifying precision-engineered components throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
* Program and operate CMM inspection equipment.
* Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections.
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
* Produce detailed inspection reports and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
* Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
* Work collaboratively with Production and Engineering teams to drive quality improvements.
* Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer quality requirements.
* Maintain calibration and traceability records.
* Assist with internal and external audits.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Previous experience in a CMM Inspection or CMM Programming role.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
* Experience using CMM software and inspection equipment.
* Knowledge of First Article Inspection (AS9102) processes.
* Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges, and shadow graphs.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to quality inspection.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Desirable Experience
* Engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
* Aerospace, defence, medical, automotive, or other high-precision manufacturing experience.
* Knowledge of SPC, MSA, PPAP, ISIR, and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience working within AS9100 environments.
* Understanding of special process controls and audit requirements.
