HOPE is dedicated to ending domestic violence by providing a wide range of services and facilitating social change. We are currently seeking a full-time Domestic Violence Public Educator. This position will be responsible for increasing community awareness regarding domestic violence prevention, education, identification and intervention services available within the HOPE of East Central Illinois catchment area.
This position will provide direct services to victims of Domestic Violence that include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with development of and providing for new community engagement activities
- Designing handouts/flyers
- Delivering community presentations
- Assisting withesthesia domestic violence education and training programs
- Assisting with the agency's social media efforts
- Collaborating with community partners to present and address the unique needs of survivors
- Assists in the delivery of the agency's outreach and community education plan
- Provides transportation for survivors
- Provides child care when needed
- Participates in the agency's on‑call rotation
- Assists with fundraisers
- Office duties such as tracking, filing, answering phones and greeting the public
This position requires the ability to:
- Work independently
- Utilize sound judgement
- Respond to crisis situations in a professional manner
- Balance priorities and tasks
- Lift 25 pounds
- Become 40‑hour domestic violence trained
The ideal candidate must have:
- Excellent public speaking and written communication skills
- At least a Bachelor's degree in human services, communications or a related field
- Prior related work experience
- A driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance
- The ability to complete the required background check
This position answers to the Director of Outreach and Prevention. It may require some evenings, weekends, on‑call rotations, and flexible hours. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
