Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a construction-focused team in Charleston, South Carolina on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys managing invoice flow, maintaining accurate payment records, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounts payable experience and can work confidently within Viewpoint Vista while helping ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.

Responsibilities:

- Process a high volume of vendor invoices with careful attention to accuracy, approvals, and payment timelines.

- Assign proper general ledger and job cost coding to invoices in alignment with company and project requirements.

- Prepare and execute weekly payment activities, including ACH transactions and check runs.

- Reconcile payable records and investigate discrepancies to ensure vendor accounts remain current and accurate.

- Maintain organized documentation for invoices, payment confirmations, and supporting accounting records.

- Use Viewpoint Vista to enter, track, and manage accounts payable activity efficiently.

- Partner with internal teams and vendors to resolve invoice issues, payment questions, and missing information.

- Support ongoing accounting operations by assisting with reporting, audit requests, and process-related tasks as needed. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable is required.

- Background in the construction or contractor industry is preferred.

- Proficiency in invoice coding and account coding is required.

- Experience processing ACH payments and coordinating check runs is needed.

- Hands-on knowledge of Viewpoint Vista is strongly preferred.

- Strong accuracy, organization, and follow-through skills are essential.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented accounting environment.
