RK&K is hiring a talented Sr. Bridge Engineer responsible for the design of bridge projects and preparation of contract documents, technical application of various AASHTO codes and SCDOT manuals, calculation and drawing QC review, interaction with CADD operators, and condition inspection of structures. As a Sr. Bridge Engineer you will be responsible for project research, drawing development, data entry, engineering computations, analysis, quantity take-offs, inspection and submittals to agencies.
You will enjoy working in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost effective designs. This candidate will also participate in developing marketing plans and pursuits related to structural engineering opportunities.
Essential Functions- Coordinate and lead structural design development and assist in providing structural direction to projects
- Provide senior level structural expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the structural aspects of the project
- Assume responsibility of completeness and accuracy of design work
- Develop and/or modify standard details
- Assess efficiency of contract document preparation and offer suggestions for improvement and implementation
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- P.E. (Professional Engineering) License
- Ten (10) - Twenty (20) or more years of bridge design experience
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Leap Bridge Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, Microstation, and other structural programs
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards related to bridge design and construction (e.g., AASHTO, ACI, ASCE)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with clients and stakeholders
- Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- SCDOT structures/bridge experience
- SCDOT Seismic Design experience
