Institution and RoleThe Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Finance at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning Fall 2026.
Position ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in financial planning, corporate finance, and financial management.
- Support curriculum development aligned with CFP Board and CFA Institute content areas.
- Advise and mentor finance majors, guiding them toward careers in personal financial planning, wealth management, and corporate finance.
- Maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status through peer‑reviewed publications and scholarly activities in financial planning, corporate finance, or financial management.
- Actively engage with professional organizations (e.g., CFP Board, FPA, CFA Society).
- Participate in service activities, including departmental and school‑level committee work.
- Ph.D. in Finance (AACSB‑accredited institution; ABD considered).
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research in financial planning and management.
- Preferred: CFP or CFA designation, professional financial planning/wealth management experience, or a research record in financial planning/financial management.
The finance program at The Citadel is designed to give students both a rigorous academic foundation and meaningful applied experiences. Housed in Bastin Hall, a new, technology‑rich facility, the program integrates modern financial tools and collaborative learning spaces that prepare students for careers in personal financial planning, wealth management, and corporate finance. The Rick and Mary Lee Bastin Financial Leadership Lab is a state‑of‑the‑art facility built to simulate a real trading floor, providing students with access to Bloomberg terminals and advanced financial analytics platforms.
Here they learn to evaluate markets, develop client strategies, and practice data‑driven decision‑making. In addition, the Baker School’s culture of innovation and entrepreneurship—highlighted by the Baker Business Bowl competition—gives students the opportunity to develop their own business ideas and apply financial planning skills in a practical setting.
The Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business is accredited by AACSB International and is housed in the newly constructed Bastin Hall, a modern facility designed for innovation and collaboration. The School offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs with an emphasis on leadership, applied learning, and experiential opportunities such as the Baker Business Bowl entrepreneurship competition and the Rick and Mary Lee Bastin Financial Leadership Lab.
