Job Description Summary
The Division of Biomedical Informatics and AI in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine invites applications for full-time, tenure-track or non-tenure track open rank faculty positions in the field of biomedical informatics. We seek outstanding candidates with expertise in biomedical informatics methods development and applications, including but not limited to bioinformatics, translational bioinformatics, clinical informatics, clinical research informatics, consumer health informatics, and public health informatics.
Candidates with a strong background in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are especially encouraged to apply. Faculty rank and track will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program in biomedical informatics and/or AI.
- Collaborate across MUSC’s academic and clinical units to advance AI and informatics-driven research and education.
- Teach and mentor students in biomedical data science and informatics PhD and MS programs.
- Contribute to informatics and data science education across biomedical and health sciences graduate programs.
- If applicable, participate in clinical activities aligned with the candidate’s specialty with agreement of the relevant clinical department chair.
- PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in biomedical informatics, computer science, data science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated research productivity and potential for securing independent funding.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
