Job Description Summary
Sign on bonus available! The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the role supports decentralized, patient‑centered care by assisting in examinations, measuring vital signs, recording data, preparing treatment rooms, and supporting physicians during procedures.
Responsibilities- Ensure accurate calibrations, cleaning, and maintenance of clinical and laboratory equipment in accordance with OSHA, DHEC, and UMA standards.
- Maintain and review patient records, charting and documentation, and communicate test and exam results.
- Keep exam rooms stocked, instruments ready, and the environment clean.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and referrals as needed, and screen patients for pertinent information.
- Observe, record, and report patient physical and psychosocial conditions, respond to medication and treatment reactions, and triage phone calls.
- Manage medication distribution, including controlled substances and samples.
- Triage patients, prepare for physician exams, assist with procedures and treatments, and instruct patients in sample collection and tests.
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, RegistrationsMust be certified through one of the following: AMT, AAMA, NHA, NAHP, MedCA, NCCT, or NAHP. Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and sit continuously; bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, use both hands and legs, and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions. Frequently lift, lower, push, pull, and carry objects weighing 50 lbs unassisted. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected and work in a latex‑safe environment indoors.
