Medical Specialist, ENT & Audiology
Under the supervision of a licensed audiologist, the Audiology/ Hearing Aid Technician performs administrative and patient assessment related tasks while also working with hearing aids and other amplification systems in our Charleston and surrounding area offices.
Work Environment & Schedule- Full-time, 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
- Some travel between clinics.
- 40% Clinical Duties
- Prepare rooms and equipment daily as well as throughout the day.
- Greet and prepare patients for audio logic evaluation and hearing aid appointments.
- Room patients for testing and hearing aid appointments; obtain and document patient history and relevant health information and intake duties as directed by audiologist.
- Manage loaner hearing aid bank and distribution.
- 30% Hearing Aid Support
- Clean and maintain hearing aids and earmolds.
- Troubleshoot common hearing aid issues.
- Provide orientation on basic hearing aid care and battery use.
- Assist with inventory management and hearing aid orders.
- Assist with connectivity of current technologies to hearing aids.
- Complete clinic forms associated with the hearing aid program.
- Hearing aid programming: confirm hearing aid program settings for incoming repaired hearing aids; prepare hearing aid devices for new fittings.
- 30% Administrative Tasks
- Schedule patient appointments as needed.
- Manage incoming and outgoing packages related to hearing aids and implantable devices.
- Enter and update electronic medical records including patient communications.
- Maintain supplies and order clinical materials as needed.
- Maintain inventory of equipment.
- Manage IT requests regarding equipment per audiologist request.
- Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations.
- Follow infection control procedures and clinic safety standards.
- Participate in continuing education and training activities.
- Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline. - Experience:
None required. - Certification:
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or relevant categorical certification preferred at time of hire; if not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
