About the RoleWe’re seeking a skilled, detail‑oriented Certified Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) to join our surgical team. You’ll play a critical role in the operating room, supporting surgeons throughout procedures by maintaining a sterile field, anticipating needs, and ensuring every case runs smoothly and safely. This is a hands‑on, OR‑based role ideal for someone who thrives in precision‑driven, elective surgery environments – especially plastic surgery.
Key Responsibilities- Operating Room Preparation & Sterile Technique
Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Ensure all instruments are sterilized and arranged according to procedure requirements.
Maintain strict sterile technique throughout all surgical procedures.
Assist with patient positioning, draping, and safety measures. - Intraoperative Surgical Support
Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to surgeons accurately and efficiently.
Anticipate surgeon needs and procedural flow to support operative efficiency.
Assist with retracting, suturing, and handling specimens as required.
Monitor the sterile field and address any breaks in technique immediately. - Patient Safety & Clinical Support
Support patient safety and comfort during procedures.
Assist in responding to intraoperative concerns or emergencies.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff. - Documentation & Workflow
Accurately document surgical information in electronic health record systems (Epic experience a plus).
Ensure surgical counts are completed and verified.
Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases. - Compliance, Safety & Quality
Adhere to infection control standards, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility policies.
Participate in training, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or unusual findings promptly.
- 1–3 years of experience in peri‑operative and/or operating room settings.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- CST certified or actively pursuing certification.
- Must pass the CST exam within 90 days of employment if not already certified.
- Knowledge of outpatient / ambulatory surgery environments, including:
Equipment safety.
Instrument cleaning, maintenance, and sterilization procedures. - Strong understanding of sterile technique, both intraoperatively and with instrument processing.
- Self‑starter with the ability to maintain steady productivity and take initiative.
- Strong communication skills and team‑first mindset.
- Professional, respectful approach to patients, coworkers, and providers.
- Suturing skills.
- Experience in plastic surgery or elective outpatient procedures.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and take initiative beyond core responsibilities.
