Patient Care Technician – 5E Cardiac Acute Care

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi‑skilled activities to support a decentralized patient‑centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
Responsibilities- Reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform multi‑skilled activities supporting patient care.
Scheduled weekly hours: 36 hours (push 3 12‑hour rotating shifts per week, including weekends and holidays). Work shift type: rotating. Position type: hourly. Pay grade:
Health‑21.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- For Patient Care Technician II:
One of the following must be met: < করোনা>
Associate or Bachelor's degree - At least
Hung 1 year work experience in an .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS - 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
- Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
- Active enrollment in a healthcare‑related field from an accredited institution
- Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, maintain Current BLS either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Physical RequirementsAbility to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, kneeling, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, pinching, gross and fine motor manipulation, reaching overhead, repetitive motions, using both legs, and lifting and carrying 50 lbs. Unassisted (or 25‑30 lbs. with assistance). Additional sensory requirements include vision, hearing, and (for selected positions) olfactory and respirator use.
