Overview
Manages the safety, productivity, training, morale, and security of a CI workshop group. Implements and co‑ordinates all CI workshop processes. Monitors the CI workshop’s performance, manages and allocates manpower, and strengthens and develops lean manufacturing principles. Prepares training documents for team‑member development and MBV training programs (ex. 5S, MPS standards, etc.) as well as executes training courses.
Responsibilities- Acts as the technical and disciplinary lead of the group.
- Develops best practices to improve CI workshop’s production capacity, quality, and reliability.
- Oversees discipline, attendance evaluations, job scope, and performance reviews for CI workshop team members.
- Provides guidance to CI workshop team members in order to continuously improve hard and soft skills.
- Provides input for budget preparation and monitors expenses.
- Manages and leads shopfloor management duties (DMM, team boards, department standards).
- Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Plans, controls, and approves vacation, employee shifts, qualifications, and schedules.
- Develops and conducts manufacturing concept trainings in classroom and shopfloor environments (MPS basics, NLC, Training Island, 5S, etc.).
- Develops and implements CI workshop area improvements (layout, process, equipment, etc.) and coordinates all needed material.
- Contributes to establishing roles of responsibilities of the CI workshop and supporting VS30 project execution in body, paint, and assembly shop while ensuring compliance with quality management standards at MBV.
- Drives standardization efforts at MBV across all departments and tracks CI projects and KPIs.
- Develops standards, establishes processes, and grows/maintains plant‑wide 5S system.
- Obtains training credentials to be certified to evaluate ergonomic opportunities at MBV.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Multiple team leaders reporting to the Group Leader.
- Responsibility for typically 5 associates in the CI workshop.
- Project management and workshop involvement.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a background in Engineering or Business or in a related field required. 5‑7 years of experience.
- Internal Employees:
Completed successfully PV-45 or currently fulfilling position of Group Leader.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. Experience in applying/exercising Mercedes Production System (or industry equivalent TPS) methodologies. Successfully completed Lean Advisor training or equivalent external credentials.
- Proven written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization with good negotiation skills. Able to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions.
- Highly flexible individual with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Strong interpersonal skills required. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
