Job Summary

The Survivorship Oncology Nurse Navigator at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center is a registered nurse with advanced oncology expertise who provides comprehensive guidance and coordination for patients throughout and following active treatment. This role serves as the primary point of contact for survivors and caregivers—triaging symptoms, coordinating follow‑up care, facilitating access to medical and supportive services, and connecting patients with community resources.

The Nurse Navigator empowers survivors through education, advocacy, and personalized care planning, helping them manage long‑term health and wellness needs. Situated within the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Survivorship and Cancer Outcomes Research (SCOR) Initiative, this Navigator will lead survivorship navigation efforts for the growing MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Survivorship Program. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and executive leadership, this position also supports program development, quality improvement, and patient experience initiatives.

The role represents a unique opportunity to help shape the future landscape of survivorship care and contribute to MUSC’s mission of delivering compassionate, evidence‑based oncology services across South Carolina.

Training and Education

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years oncology nursing experience required; navigation or survivorship experience preferred. Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in lieu of BSN. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) or comparable certification preferred.

In addition, the applicant must have expert knowledge of oncology disease processes, treatment modalities and survivorship care principles; strong nursing assessment and triage skills; ability to navigate complex healthcare systems and coordinate multidisciplinary care; excellent communication, teaching, and patient engagement abilities; proficiency in data tracking, outcome reporting, and electronic health record systems; and ability to foster collaboration across teams and community networks.
