MUSC delivers approximately 3,200 patients annually. Labor and Delivery consists of 17 Labor and Delivery Rooms (LDRs), 2 operating rooms (ORs), 3 post‑anesthesia care unit (PACU) beds, and 4 triage rooms. In addition to vaginal and cesarean deliveries, L&D provides operative services such as cerclage and tubal ligation. Medical support includes management of gestational/chronic diabetes, hypertension, and other high‑risk antepartum conditions, including acceptance of high‑risk maternal transports from the region.
Wireless electronic fetal monitoring is available in all beds. Perinatal palliative care is available as needed. The staffing mix includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified surgical technicians, and unit secretaries.
Currently offering a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for nurses with at least two years of L&D work experience.

Employee – Regular – Health‑28 Pay Grade – Hourly – 36 scheduled weekly hours – 3–12 hour shifts per week, including some weekends and holidays.
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Minimum Training and EducationPreferred:
Bachelor of Nursing degree. RN staff hired on or after July 1 2013 with an associate or diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and to successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or re‑classification date (refer to policy A141 for more details). A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
