Job Description SummaryPACU in Main Hospital is a 21-bed unit with 24/7/365 operation care for patients of all ages and disease processes. Most surgeries include but are not limited to Ortho, Transplant, Neuro, Spine, ENT, GYN, Trauma, Urology and multiple other specialties. The unit provides care for both ambulatory surgery patients as well as inpatients. The unit often accommodates ICU crash patients and med‑surg patients waiting for beds after surgery.
The unit often only hires nurses with 2 years of critical care or level 1 ED experience, but is willing to train enthusiastic and motivated med‑surg and new graduate nurses.

Mid‑shift 3–12‑hour shifts per week; rotating on‑call, weekends and holidays
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Minimum Training and EducationBachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
RequiredLicensure, Certifications, Registrations
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or an AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Physical and Mental RequirementsAbility to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outside in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, gross and fine motor activities, reaching overhead, repetitive motions, using both legs and lower extremities for balance and coordination. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted, lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from floor and raise 25 lbs.
from 36". Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, hearing acuity, and perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to handle stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime, latex safe environment, maintain tactile and olfactory senses, respirator use as required.
