RN Perioperative Procedural Coordinator – SJCH Pediatric OR
Join MUSC Children’s Health as an RN Perioperative Procedural Coordinator. This role supports and is proactive within the Perioperative Services team to achieve unit and organizational goals, including clinical and quality measures, operational efficiency, and financial targets.
Responsibilities- Serve as an educational resource while following AORN best practices and guidelines.
- Coordinate and collaborate with SPD leadership and other stakeholders to foster teamwork and safety.
- Lead or co‑lead Working Specialty Groups (WSGs) and ensure attendance and documentation of minutes.
- Participate in S3/RCA events, action planning, education, and audits.
- Collaborate with coordinators, charge nurses, SPD, and perioperative units to provide staffing solutions.
- Ensure adequate staff and competency for equipment and processes.
- Submit, post, and review job vacancies through the FTE Request System.
- Interview candidates within 1–3 days and manage new‑hire onboarding and competency training.
- Provide constructive feedback and conduct equitable yearly evaluations.
- Address behavioral, attendance, and performance issues through the disciplinary process.
- Standardize Peri Procedural operations and establish procedures with leadership.
- Improve clinical and non‑clinical workflows, productivity, and overall quality outcomes.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school, or currently enrolled in a BSN program with completion in four years.
- Minimum 3 years related perioperative nursing experience; must have at least 2 years operating room experience as scrub and circulate.
- RN licensure by South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- CNOR certification within 12 months of hire.
- Completion of RN‑PPTC onboarding and Frontline Nurse Leader Development Program within 6 months.
- Strong ability to work with diverse teams and patient populations.
Hourly position with a 40‑hour week (6:30 am – 3:00 pm). No weekend, holiday, or on‑call duties. Up to $30,000 sign‑on bonus for external candidates with a minimum of 2 years operating room experience, under a 2‑year service agreement.
