As a Pet Stylist at Petco, you will be responsible for providing professional grooming services to our valued customers' pets. With your expertise and attention to detail, you will ensure each pet receives exceptional care, leaving them looking and feeling their best.

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning per pet parent instructions and company policies
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers
• Prioritize pet safety and well‑being, monitor for signs of discomfort or illness, and report concerns to owners and management
• Assess individual needs of each pet, considering coat type, skin condition, and temperament
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide optimal customer service, address inquiries, and offer grooming recommendations
• Educate pet parents on at‑home care practices and product recommendations
• Maintain clean and safe grooming area, disinfect tools, perform daily and weekly cleaning duties, and comply with sanitation policies
• Support and supervise entry‑level trainees when necessary

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program or prior professional grooming experience; technical grooming education acceptable
• High‑school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
• Strong problem‑solving and independent judgment abilities
• Results‑driven with commitment to productivity, performance, and ownership of role
• Strong attention to detail and passion for animals
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues, and behaviors
• Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by the grooming schedule

The majority of duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. The position requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Exposure to heights and use of a ladder may be required for cleaning tasks. Work may be noisy and wet.
