GEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a skilled Analyst or Analyst in Training to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office to conduct analytical procedures that support a wide range of environmental test methods while working independently to meet productivity and quality goals with minimal supervision. This position focuses on sample preparation and basic bench-top testing that supports environmental compliance programs for water, soil, and hazardous waste samples.
As you gain experience, you will be cross-trained in additional methods and laboratory areas, providing opportunities to expand your technical expertise. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, excellent in Microsoft Office 365 applications, and possess a general understanding of laboratory protocols and procedures.

The Analyst in Training will be responsible for:
- Performing routine sample preparation activities such as aliquoting, filtration, extraction, digestion, and preservation of environmental samples
- Conducting basic hazardous waste characterization tests, including flashpoint and viscosity
- Following complex procedures involving sample preparation and/or operation and calibration of instrumentation while demonstrating consistent, reliable performance
- Completing data entry activities, including initial data reduction, and initial data review
- Performing basic troubleshooting of methods and/or instrumentation
- Reviewing peers’ analytical data
- Communicating with internal customers or auditors (Project Managers, Quality, or Auditors)
- Demonstrating and supporting GEL core values
- Conducting procedures that support other operations in the laboratory

Qualifications for Analyst in Training:
- Bachelor of Science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology
- Minimum of one year of related laboratory experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience operating basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Understanding of lab ware preparation procedures
- Exhibits organizational skills and attention to detail
- May work a Monday — Friday schedule or a Tuesday — Saturday schedule
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
This position requires working in a busy production laboratory successfully processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.
