Inside Higher Ed is looking for a Security Specialist III (#2612). This role requires 24/7 coverage to manage traffic direction, vehicle assistance, parking citations, access control, crowd control at events, emergency aid, and accurate reporting of incidents related to fire, safety, enforcement of laws, and college regulations.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform traffic direction and vehicle assistance.
• Issue parking citations and control access to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• Provide crowd control at events and secure areas as required.
• Respond to emergencies and render aid in non-arrest situations.
• Keep accurate and complete reports and records regarding activities, complaints, and incidents.

Minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in fire prevention, safety, or security activities.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in a college environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of safety, security, and fire protection practices.
• Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations.
• Ability to investigate accidents, disturbances, and violations.
• Ability to monitor and respond to audible/visual alarms, patrol on foot, respond to emergencies, and assist emergency personnel.
• Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.
