Patrols assigned areas diligently, giving particular attention to locations where problems have been frequent. Patrols buildings checking for fire, prowlers, vandalism, and other unusual activities. Makes rounds of the assigned area at least three times during the shift, documents and verbally reports discrepancies. Maintains attentiveness, promptly responds to emergencies, knows the locations of call boxes and fire extinguishers, coordinates with other officers, checks IDs and passes.

Courteously assists all persons seeking directions, information or assistance.

• Patrols assigned areas and buildings for fire, security, and unusual activities; conducts rounds at least three times per shift and documents discrepancies.
• Responds promptly to emergencies; coordinates with other officers; checks IDs and passes; provides directions and assistance to the public.
• Operates two-way radio and follows dispatcher directions; monitors alarms and CCTV as assigned.
• Public Safety Officer duties (non-arrest powers); assists supervisory personnel with maintaining peace and decorum; escorts individuals as required; detains suspicious persons and notifies dispatchers.
• Reports information and concerns to relieving officers to support proper performance of duties.

• Minimum Requirements:
  
  A high school diploma and three years of experience in fire prevention, safety, or security activities.
• Certification by the Department of Public Safety, in accordance with Section 23-6-430 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  capable of standing/walking for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted; ability to lift, drag, or pull persons to safety up to 300 lbs with assistance; ability to hear in noisy environments; vision 20/40 with or without correction; ability to climb stairs; intact olfactory sense; ability to carry heavy objects 15 to 20 feet in emergency situations; ability to engage in physical confrontations if needed;
  
  ability to work overtime as required.
• Additional New Requirements:
  Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license; computer literacy.
