Job Description
Summary:
The Medical Center Security Officer provides security services for Care Team Members, patients, visitors, and our Medical Facilities. The Security Officer must be able to communicate tactfully and effectively with Care Team Members and the public. Must have knowledge of security practices and protocols. The position involves shiftwork and some overtime.

Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma and one year of relevant experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service, Behavioral Health, Counselor, Education, or Military.
- Bachelor’s degree or other relevant certifications may be substituted for the required work experience.
- Must obtain and be able to maintain the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety certification (IAHSS) within the first year of employment.
- Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift
- Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift
- Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift
- Ability to perform job functions while standing.
- Ability to perform job functions while sitting.
- Ability to perform job functions while walking.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to work indoors.
- Ability to work from elevated areas.
- Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces.
- Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions.

- Ability to squat and perform job functions.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders.
- Ability to reach in all directions.
- Possess good finger dexterity.
- Ability to fully use both legs.
- Ability to fully use both hands/arms.
- Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to lift/lower objects 15 lbs. from/to floor from to 36 inches unassisted.
- Ability to lift from 36 inches to overhead 15 lbs.
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
- Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
- Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment.
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
- Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function.
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
