Overview
Field Service Technician - Charleston, SC
The Field Service Technician is responsible for handling all tasks within their assigned area to repair, maintain, and install security systems. This includes but is not limited to access control, video security, intrusion, alarm, infant protection, and intercom systems.
Responsibilities- Respond to all service calls within the assigned area within guaranteed response times with the objective of restoring system functionality.
- Properly install systems according to Tech Systems Installation Standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Ensure all tasks are handled in accordance with Tech Systems’ policies and procedures.
- Identify manufacturer revisions, upgrades, and installs independently.
- Communicate with Customer Service Representative regarding status, progress, and resolution of all assigned tasks. Update tickets in the service and project tracking system.
- Accurately account for company inventory and resources in their possession.
- Perform system Preventive Maintenance inspections according to policy and procedures.
- Assist with other technical support issues, as needed.
- Attend to other matters and duties as assigned by the Regional Manager or executive staff of Tech Systems.
- Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience
- At least two (2) years prior work experience in commercial security systems installation or service.
- Must have networking skills and 1-year experience programming access and video systems.
- Knowledge, Skills & Competency
- Possess minimum factory and/or internal security system certifications to work independently.
- Must have basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook), Smartsheet, and IT skills with understanding of IP systems.
- Excellent customer service skills with a sense of urgency when attending to customer needs.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work accurately, efficiently, and independently with proficiency in all systems installed in the service area.
- Compliance with safety regulations and ability to work safely.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff, vendors, and customers and to build teams.
- Driver’s License
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, satisfactory to Tech Systems’ automobile insurance carrier.
Job duties are performed at client sites and require regular physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds. Tasks may involve exposure to hazards such as electricity. The job requires driving and travel.
