Position: Office Assistant 2-DHS-DCR-Huttonsville Correctional Center & Jail-Randolph Co.

$32,240 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, performs full performance level work in multiple‑step clerical tasks calling for interpretation and application of office procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Schedules inmate visits and verifies the identity of all facility visitors (attorneys, probation/parole, volunteers).
  • Processes inmate and facility mail, answers and directs phone calls, sorts and files documents, and performs routine data entry.
  • Assists administrative staff with typing memos, reports and notices.
  • Maintains hard copies of inmate files and utilizes the OIS system to input inmate file information.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Requires working and/or giving breaks at the switchboard.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
  • Two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in routine office work.
  • College hours, related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
Critical Vacancy Pay
  • In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5,000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. (Facilities include Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail… etc.)
  • Employees receive an annual base building pay differential of $250 each fiscal year after completing one year of service.
  • If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 will be removed from their salary unless transferring to another CVPF.
