Transportation Construction Manager!

construction administration & inspection
, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for a Construction Manager who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration and management for transportation-related projects. You'll leverage your expertise in construction processes and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies and our internal cross-functional Teams.

Overview/Highlights
  • The Transportation Construction Manager provides supervision and coordination for construction projects for the company construction program.
  • Performs supervisory work coordinating and overseeing the activities of technical, paraprofessional, or skilled trades employees.
  • Position may manage other supervisory employees and will oversee several work crews involved in infrastructure construction projects.
  • Responsible for organizing and assigning work to crews, estimating and tracking project expenses, adhering to budgetary restrictions, procuring and assigning required equipment.
  • Reviews work to ensure objectives are met.
  • Work may be performed in inclement weather and around heavy moving equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Schedules construction activities, assigning employees and equipment according to the needs of the project.
  • Organizes and plans for construction improvement projects based on needs and available workloads.
  • Estimates and submits costs on construction contracts.
  • Records the labor, materials, and equipment expense for each construction project.
  • Writes correspondence and reports pertaining to construction projects.
  • Conducts field reviews to inspect and assure compliance to infrastructure maintenance and construction policies, procedures and standards.
  • May teach construction management and safety classes.
  • Identifies equipment for repairs.
  • Reviews potential project sites to determine work needed.
  • Oversees the progress and checks the quality of work performed by crews.
  • Trains crew members on individual tasks of projects.
  • Completes employee performance evaluations and approves employee leave requests and time.
  • Inventories materials and equipment for availability.
  • Recommends hiring and disciplinary action and trains new employees.
  • Personal contacts are with employees of the company and the immediate organization.
  • Performs other (related) duties, as required.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of highways and infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of surveying and engineering principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the office and administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of management skills and philosophies.
  • Ability to organize, assign, and supervise skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in infrastructure construction.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports.
  • Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and directions.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of general governmental highway standards and regulations and highway safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of highway construction and maintenance techniques.
  • Knowledge of capabilities of construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, higher mathematics skill a plus.
