Senior Operations Specialist (Water)
Join HDR as a Senior Operations Specialist focusing on municipal and industrial water treatment facilities. You will support project leaders on water treatment projects, manage operations and maintenance projects, and develop startup and commissioning plans. You will perform training, testing, condition assessment, and troubleshooting to ensure plant reliability and operability.

Primary Responsibilities- Support HDR project leaders at the local, state, and regional level on water treatment projects requiring input from Operations Specialists.
- Review drawings for operability and Haz Ops analysis to ensure successful operation of treatment processes.
- Manage operations and maintenance projects with municipal and industrial clients, including client interfacing, regulatory reporting, and personnel and subcontractor management.
- Develop and host startup and commissioning workshops for clients’ contractors and operators.
- Perform startup and commissioning of new water treatment facilities and ensure equipment functions correctly before handover.
- Provide formal and informal training to help clients’ plants operate at maximum performance.
- Participate in testing to confirm startup readiness and design capacity compliance.
- Perform condition assessment and asset management tasks using state‑of‑the‑art evaluation tools.
- Conduct operational and maintenance troubleshooting and evaluations on municipal and industrial water facilities.
Work may require 30–40% travel nationwide; weekend travel is normally not required.
StronglyPreferred Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of field experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment at water treatment facilities and/or resolving process problems.
- High‑level water treatment operator license or professional engineering license.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance and management systems.
- Commitment to employee‑owned culture.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Microsoft Office experience.
- General background‑related experience.
