Temporary Cities Readiness Initiative Coordinator

Position Overview: The Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating activities that enhance the State of West Virginia’s ability to respond to large-scale public health emergencies requiring rapid distribution of medical countermeasures. This position ensures compliance with all CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness Cooperative Agreement requirements and supports partnerships among local, state, and federal entities to strengthen preparedness and response capabilities statewide.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the State of West Virginia’s CRI program under the CDC PHEP Cooperative Agreement.
  • Collaborate with local health departments, emergency management agencies, and healthcare partners to enhance readiness and ensure program compliance.
  • Evaluate training sessions, drills, and exercises that assess and improve CRI performance capabilities.
  • Provide technical assistance to local and regional partners on preparedness, planning, and operational response standards.
  • Compile, analyze, and report data related to CRI performance metrics, program outcomes, and CDC deliverables.
  • Support integration of CRI objectives into state and local emergency preparedness strategies.
  • Participate in statewide emergency response operations as assigned.
Work Environment

This position is based in Charleston, West Virginia, with periodic travel to local health departments, partner agencies, and statewide training or exercise events. The incumbent may be required toadvance with emergency response activation outside normal business hours.

This is a temporary, part-time position that will work 24 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Training: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university.
  • occasionally substitution: Additional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Experience: Four years full‑time, equivalent part‑time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.
  • Substitution for experience: Post‑graduate education in a field related to the technical or program area may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours for one year of experience.
  • Other Information: Three (3) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in the Health and Human Resources series may substitute for the required training and experience.
