Supervisor, Field Operations
American Water is seeking a Supervisor, Field Operations to manage day‑to‑day water and wastewater field services in compliance with company policies, procedures, and all applicable governmental laws and regulations.
Key Accountabilities- Assist with preparing and controlling local construction, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations.
- Ensure local water and/or wastewater operations meet the required standards and are in compliance with regulatory targets.
- Supervise the implementation of standards, targets, policies, and plans to ensure ongoing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
- Maintain operational integrity in quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, and security.
- Develop and direct cost‑effective solutions to meet customers’ expectations and technical requirements while encouraging best practice and innovation throughout all operational areas.
- Implement effective reporting processes and provide analysis and support for reports, budgets, and business plans.
- Foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within functional areas.
- Develop and implement effective people‑management policies and practices (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management) and ensure resources are appropriately deployed.
- Reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce.
- Support the Business Development function in operational analysis, pricing, and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities in regulated and non‑regulated markets.
- Collaborate with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.
- Implement effective communications at all levels of operations to enhance flexibility to changing business environments.
- Contribute to open and honest work environments by listening, providing constructive feedback, and sharing relevant knowledge and information across the team and broader business.
- Knowledge of the regulated water/wastewater business within the region and the regulations impacting the business, including applicable requirements and trends.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures and management theories, practices, and trends, with expert knowledge of process and operational areas.
- 2‑year or 4‑year degree in an operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3‑5 years of experience supervising operational areas and managing and meeting performance targets, or equivalent experience in a Field Services role.
