Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in a Level 1 Trauma setting with BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI certifications required.
Responsibilities- Work in a 24-bed Emergency Department within a Level 1 Trauma hospital
- Patient population includes infants through geriatrics with a high volume of psychiatric cases
- Care for patients with neurological, orthopedic, psychiatric, and renal emergencies as well as trauma cases
- 3x12 hour night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, including every other weekend
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1
- May float within scope to meet facility needs
- No call responsibilities
- Potential for blocked schedules, to be discussed during interview
- Primary responsibilities include providing emergency care for a diverse, high-acuity patient population
- High proportion of psychiatric patients with no separate psych area
- First-time travelers are accepted if qualified
- Permanent employees may not return as travelers within 2 years of last date of employment
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility for consideration, with some flexibility between 75-100 miles upon approval
- Orientation is held every other week on Thursday
- Two manager or charge nurse references from the past two years are required for consideration
- Active WV or compact RN license is required (pending license acceptable, but must be active by start date)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in Emergency Department nursing
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI
- Experience with IV starts and telemetry is required
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required
- Flu shot required during flu season (October 1st – March 31st) unless medically exempt
