Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position caring for post-op open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients, requiring chest tube and central line experience.

Details
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 29-bed Open Heart Progressive Care pod
  • Cares for post-op open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring
  • Also accepts Med/Surg overflow patients
  • 4:1 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 7P-7A, 3x12 or 4x12 schedule with 36 or 48hr contract options
  • Weekday shifts with every other weekend required
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • Blocked schedule requests accommodated
  • Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
  • Active WV or Compact RN license in hand required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required through AHA
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal experience required
  • Central line experience required
  • Experience with external/internal pacemakers and wound vacs required
  • 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
Additional Information
  • Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
  • 838 staffed beds facility
  • Orientation held every other Thursday
  • Scrub color required:
    Royal Blue/White
  • Flu shot required without medical exemption proof
  • COVID vaccine required, with medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case on approval
  • Free parking available for travelers
  • Please limit holiday RTO requests to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
  • Former permanent employees must wait 3 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
  • Current employees of Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, with 75-100 mile candidates considered case-by-case
  • First-time travelers not considered for this position
