Position Summary:

Assess, treat, solve problems, counsel, and educate Hospice Care and palliative care patients, utilizing advanced assessment and evaluation techniques. Provides coverage for hospital palliative care service at the discretion of the Palliative Care Medical Director and Director of Palliative Care. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an approved nursing program.
• Successful completion of an accredited University affiliated Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current unrestricted WV RN license with advanced practice designation.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and people skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Frequent standing and walking for extended periods (8-12 hour per shift).
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Ability to push and pull equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers, and medication carts).
• Visual acuity to read medication labels, physician orders, and monitors.
• Auditory ability to assess patient needs and respond to alarms or calls for assistance.
• Exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
• Frequent interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Fast-paced clinical settings with potential for high stress.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
