Grounds Maintenance Worker

Summary

The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform maintenance and upkeep on public grounds, green spaces and/or historic parks for a department, division or work unit.

This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

To perform this job successfully, applicants should be able to perform each essential duty in an efficient, effective and safe manner. The duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. High School Diploma or GED.

Six months in grounds maintenance or closely related experience.

Must possess and maintain valid Driver's License.

• Performs various maintenance functions on public grounds, green spaces and/or historic parks including, but not limited to cutting grass, making minor repairs, picking up trash, cleaning, planting flowers and trees, trimming trees/bushes, pulling vines and weeds, and blowing leaves.
• Operates various equipment including, but not limited to stump grinder, mower, chainsaw, weed eater, trimmer, tiller and backhoe; performs maintenance on mowers and other equipment.
