Overview
Building Maintenance Mechanic-Veterans Assistance-Veterans Home-Cabell Co. role at State of West Virginia. This position is with the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville, WV.
PositionBuilding Maintenance Mechanic
Salary: $17 - $22 per hour
Location:
West Virginia Veterans Home, Barboursville, WV
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities- Repair and maintain walls, ceilings, floors, steps, doors, frames, and plaster.
- Perform painting tasks as required.
- Install, repair, or replace lighting fixtures and ceiling tiles.
- Maintain plumbing systems, including repair and replacement of fixtures and components.
- Conduct inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs on necessary equipment.
- Furniture assembly, movement, and the loading/unloading of supplies.
- Complete masonry projects.
- Maintain exterior grounds, including grass cutting, snow removal, and general landscaping.
- Remove trash and ensure cleanliness throughout the property.
- Transport residents to medical appointments, as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other staff to meet operational goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the facility’s ongoing needs.
- Experience:
Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance or as a helper in a building trade.
- Annual Leave: 15 days per year as a new employee, with more days with years of service.
- Sick Leave: 18 days per year.
