Corrections Case Manager – Eastern Regional Jail – Berkeley County
$40,702 minimum special hiring rate (subject to Critical Vacancy Pay). County:
Berkeley.
Under general supervision, the Corrections Case Manager functions as a member of a team providing services to an assigned caseload of inmates in a correctional facility. Responsibilities include overall management of inmates, ensuring their needs are met, providing individual and/or group counseling, assisting in the development and implementation of treatment programs, developing case histories, gathering collateral information on placement, treatment, and court data, writing reports and recommendations regarding inmate behavior, placement and performance for the circuit courts, controlling inmate movement, and liaising between the inmate and facility, legal representatives, family members, treatment providers, and court officials.
The Corrections Case Manager will perform other duties as assigned.
- In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5,000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility.
- Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.
- If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary unless transferring to another CVPF.
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, guidance, criminology, social work, or a related field.
- Substitution:
Experience in an area of corrections programming or treatment may be substituted for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis. - Two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in inmate counseling, security or treatment in a correctional setting, or in counseling, guidance, probation and parole, mental health counseling, or social work.
- Substitution: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or a related behavioral science field may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Full work history is required for qualification.
- Substitution for required training and experience:
Five years of experience at a Correctional Officer 2 or higher.
