Position: Corrections Case Manager-DHS-DCR-Wood County Youth Reporting Center-Wood Co.

Corrections Case Manager – DHS – DCR – Wood County Youth Reporting Center – Wood Co.

Location: Wood County, WV

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and/or group counseling to an assigned juvenile caseload under general supervision.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of treatment programs.
  • Develop case histories and gather social, placement, treatment, and court information.
  • Write reports and recommend juvenile behavior, placement, and performance for circuit courts.
  • Serve as a role model for juveniles.
  • Act as the liaison between juveniles, legal representatives, family members, treatment providers, and court officials.
  • Compile information on juveniles’ criminal involvement, record database statistics, and recommend treatment programs to help juveniles control and overcome problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Training: Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, guidance, criminology, social work, or a related field.
  • Substitution for training: Experience in an area of corrections programming or treatment may be substituted for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Experience: Two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in inmate counseling, security or treatment in a correctional setting, or in counseling, guidance, as a probation or parole officer, mental health counselor, or social worker.
  • Substitution for experience: A Master’s Degree in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or a related behavioral science field may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Five years of experience at a Correctional Officer 2 or higher may substitute for the required training and experience.
