Walgreens offers an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program, recognized by ASHP & the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship guides you toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician.

• Pharmacy Operations: Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, enter patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and maintain workflow.
  • Assist with pharmacy systems for patient information and prescription processing; coach pharmacy technicians on system use.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions.
  • Maintain accurate records and report errors to the pharmacist immediately.
  • Handle cash registers, process payments, and assist customers in locating products.
  • Support inventory management: ordering, unpacking, storing, and filing claims for overages or shortages.
  • Assist in administering clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized pharmacy department.

  • Greet customers and patients, offer assistance, resolve issues, and ensure a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members, including anticipatory help and courteous communication.
  • Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
• Operations & Compliance:
  • Adhere to Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy.
  • Support pharmacy manager and staff pharmacist in workflow and scheduling.
  • Assist with telephone calls and third‑party claim processing.
  • Participate in medical community outreach and marketing efforts.
• Training & Development:
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.
  • Attend required training and acquire continuing education credits regularly.
  • Stay current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Proficiency in computers.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification (preferred).
