SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director – Early Childhood and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Teacher develops a high quality pre-school program (GSRP center-based model) for children who may be at risk of becoming educationally disadvantaged and who may have an extraordinary need of special assistance. Provides direct student instruction and coordinates the work of the paraprofessional. Works in a family focused environment with parents and other outside agencies.
PRINCIPALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide evidence-based assessment, instruction and interventions that are matched to student needs using data-driven instructional decision-making, problem solving and progress monitoring through a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework to positively impact student growth and achievement.
- Determines application of the Creative Curriculum as appropriate for each student in relationship to his or her needs.
- Provides direct instruction in physical, mental, sensory, social and emotional patterns of growth.
- Works to achieve maximum educational achievement through cooperative efforts with parents, support staff, community agencies and other outside resources.
- Provides on-going evaluation of program effectiveness.
- Provides direct instruction to assigned children.
- Provides screening and evaluation of each student to coordinate services and assess individual student needs.
- Coordinates instructional and behavioral management techniques with parents or guardians involved with assigned students.
- Works across multiple departments and constituent districts to maximize the use of data for improving student achievement within an MTSS framework.
- Provides local schools and community organizations with information regarding enrollment and carries out all activities related to program promotion and enrollment of students.
- Makes home visits at beginning and end of year for each student to build relationships and provide modeling and information to the parent(s) or guardian(s).
- Provides parents with instruction and materials relevant to their child’s learning.
- Provides monthly parent-child interactions to assist parents in becoming involved in their child’s education.
- Maintains all licensing and programmatic records.
- Schedules and carries out all licensing and program inspections and requirements.
- Ensures that classroom equipment, materials and supplies are maintained in clean, safe and proper working condition and that said materials comply with all licensing and program requirements.
- Participates in professional growth activities.
- Provides educational and training information to paraprofessional(s) and families. Plans, coordinates and implements parent educational activities including home visits.
- Confers and collaborates with ancillary and consulting staff, including Early Childhood Specialist and Great Start Collaborative.
- Actively participates with peers in staffings, staff meetings, or other scheduled events including community awareness and education events.
- Maintains records of progress toward program outcomes for each student and documents special incidents which may occur.
- Completes annual report on student and program progress. Completes the Program Quality Assessment and all other program documents from the Michigan Department of Education.
- Maintains all staff and facility licensing documents and records per Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing.
- Participates in job related conferences and in-service programs provided by the District or related external agencies.
- Participates in the Great Start Collaborative.
- Participates in GSRP teacher learning group.
- Coordinates and guides the work of paraprofessional.
- Other Duties as assigned.
